Get Active and Have Fun at Wellspring Wisconsin

Wellspring Wisconsin campers enjoy a wide variety of indoor and outdoor sports and activities. Whether it's a team sport, personal training in the expansive state-of-the-art facilities, or a canoe trip on the Lake, Wellspring campers have many opportunities to learn new skills and gain confidence while having a great time. Even campers who traditionally have not enjoyed gym class or organized fitness activities have fun in the supportive environment of Wellspring Wisconsin.

Midwest Weight Loss Camp Activities

Our goal is for campers to explore as many different activities as possible so that they can return home with lots of options for staying active. Many of our campers join us after having been inactive for some time, while others have been fairly active but are still dealing with weight issues. In either case, our counselors and coaches are specially trained to make sure that campers are safe and supported as they work toward better fitness.

In addition to fun-filled days on campus and in the surrounding region, we venture out for great trips to some of the Midwest's best theme parks, including Six Flags, Noah's Ark Water Park and Kalahari Indoor Theme Park.

"I met tons of new friends, got to try and participate in activities I've never done before and lost a lot of weight and I feel healthy and happy when leaving."
Megan M., Chicago, IL, Wellspring Wisconsin Camper

Fun, Games and Sports On-Campus

Every day, Wellspring Wisconsin campers take advantage of the amazing campus fitness facilities to enjoy physical activity and prepare for being active at home. Personal training, fitness classes, and cardio and strength workouts all occur in the 156,000 square foot fitness and recreation center. Outdoor options abound with miles of walking trails, well-maintained fields and courts for kickball, soccer, softball, a sandy beach, and swimming in Lake Michigan. And campers enjoy time in the pool, participating in water sports and games, swimming relays, and water aerobics.

Off-Campus Adventures

Wellspring Wisconsin’s location on Lake Michigan makes it an ideal starting point for a wide range of fun off-campus activities. We hike, bike, and canoe in the surrounding area, visit area farmers' markets, and even take part in a local 5K race. In addition to fun-filled days on campus and in the surrounding region, we venture out for great trips to some of the Midwest's best destinations, including Six Flags Great America and downtown Chicago.

Attainable Fitness Goals

At the heart of our Activity Management program at Wellspring Wisconsin is the goal that our campers will continue with an active lifestyle long after they leave camp. To help encourage this lifestyle change, we establish daily activity goals that are achievable and easy for campers to sustain at home. The initial goal is to take at least 10,000 steps per day, measured on the pedometers that campers wear, and recorded in self-monitoring journals.

As campers rise up the Wellspring Level System, the required number of steps per day increases. Through adopting the habit of daily goal-setting, campers experience the rewards of meeting goals and continually working toward greater challenges.
