Program Supervisors
Wellspring is seeking Program Supervisors for several Wellspring Camps. Program Supervisors support the Program Director in the daily operation of Camp. Program supervisors organize camp schedules and activities and help supervise camp counselors. Previous management and outdoor education experience required.
Field Supervisors
Wellspring is seeking several Field Supervisors to lead campers on multi-day backcountry field trips and supervise backpacking, biking, rafting, rock climbing, canoeing, and surfing activities. Field Supervisors oversee Field Staff and train campers on key skills required to be successful long-term weight controller and on basic outdoor living skills. WFR and CPR certifications are necessary. Background in outdoor leadership/recreation management preferred.
Camp Counselors
Wellspring seeks motivated and energetic counselors to show campers new ways to have fun and be active and to support the important lifestyle change they are undergoing. Previous experience leading or supervising children or adolescents in sports or other activities is required. Camping and outdoor education experience is preferred, particularly at our Adventure Camp. Majors in Psychology, Social Work, Sports Science or Outdoor Leadership/Recreation Management are preferred.
Behavioral Coaches
All Wellspring Camps employ Masters or Ph.D.-level behavioral psychologists, counselors and social workers with some background in cognitive-behavior therapy and a commitment to a healthy lifestyle. These therapists, called “Behavioral Coaches,” work one-on-one and in group settings with campers in Wellspring’s cognitive-behavioral therapy weight management program. All Behavioral Coaches are trained by Daniel S. Kirschenbaum, Ph.D., Clinical Director of Wellspring Camps.
Specialty Staff
Wellspring is seeking a number of Specialty Staff to oversee and organize specific outdoor activities such as rock climbing, canoeing (class I and II), biking, sea kayaking, and backpacking. Candidates must have background, personal and instructional, in specific field. WFR and certification for respective activity (AMGA, ACA, Lifeguard) are necessary. Background in outdoor leadership/recreation management preferred.
Field Staff
Wellspring Adventure Camp in North Carolina is seeking field staff to lead campers on backcountry field expeditions. Field staff supervise outdoor activities, including backpacking, mountain biking, whitewater rafting, climbing, and camping. Field staff must have experience camping and backpacking, at a minimum. Experience with other activities is preferred. WFR and CPR certifications are necessary.
Logistics
Wellspring is seeking a number of logistics staff to support groups in the field from our base camp. Logistics staff organize and transport gear, food and staff to and from the field. Strong organizational skills and systematic thinking required.
Counselor/Nutrition Instructor
Wellspring is seeking nutrition instructors for various Wellspring Camps. In addition to Counselor responsibilities, nutrition instructors receive special training in nutrition to deliver the Wellspring hands-on nutrition curriculum. College degree in nutrition or related field or professional experience is required.
Ropes Course Instructor
Wellspring New York seeks a ropes course instructor to challenge campers on low and high ropes course initiatives. Instructor must have previous experience as a leader on a high elements ropes course, as well as training in facilitation and emergency response techniques.
Camp Nurse
Wellspring seeks nurses for various locations. Nurses supervise the daily health needs of campers and staff. Under the standing orders of a local physician, the nurse is responsible for on-site evaluations, distribution of medication, making appointments with local physicians and specialists when necessary, and the general welfare of the camp. Experience with overweight patients and/or adolescents is a plus.
Cooks
Wellspring seeks cooks and assistant cooks for programs in North Carolina, both Wellspring Adventure Camp and Wellspring Family Camp, and Hawaii. Cooks will work with the Food Service Manager to prepare very low-fat, low calorie-density meals for campers and staff, consistent with the Wellspring menu. Learn new cooking techniques and assist in operating a full-scale commercial kitchen. Previous experience in food service preferred.
