Meet the 2011 Wellspring Pennsylvania Mentors
We have a great group of Mentors at Wellspring Pennsylvania who are returning this summer to help other campers along their journey to healthy living. Mentors are former campers who stayed committed to the Wellspring Plan at home and are working steadily toward their healthy weight. Mentors are here to inspire and encourage; they’ve been right where you are now and they know that long-term weight control is a tough (but very rewarding!) challenge.
Below are three of our 2011 Mentors, sharing their success and explaining why they’re excited to return for another fantastic summer. They are looking forward to meeting YOU soon!

What's your favorite memory from camp last year?
It is hard to pick just one favorite memory from camp because I had so much fun and made many new friends! One of my favorite memories was when we played Color Wars which is a game where you are divided into teams by color and compete against each other. We got to mix and mingle while meeting new people and playing a lot of new fun games.
What are you most looking forward to at camp this summer?
I am looking forward to making new friends and memories while getting into shape and having tons of fun. I am excited for swimming, monster ball, basketball, soccer, and hopefully another game of quidditch!! I am also looking forward to working at reaching my goal weight and encouraging my friends to reach their goals and have an awesome time at camp.
What has changed about you because of Wellspring?
Wellspring has helped me care about what I kind of food I put into my body. I have learned how to identify food that is bad for me and how to cook food that taste great and is healthy. Now, before I eat anything, I look at the nutrition facts. I know how to supplement good food in place of bad food. I also have learned to journal my food which helps me pay attention to what I am eating.

What's your favorite memory from camp last year?
My favorite memory from camp was when we drove down to Tennessee and went caving for 6 hours straight. The best part was thinking we were only in the cave a total of 3 hours when we were actually there for twice of that time.
What are you most looking forward to at camp this summer?
I am really looking forward to coming to Wellspring and obtaining more experience in traveling and activities. I am also really excited about watching people, including myself, change themselves for the better and become healthier. This consequently ends in more self-esteem.
What has changed about you because of Wellspring?
Since I have been to camp, I have become more independent and adventurous in life. I have grown more aware of what is defined as healthy is and what is not. I can honestly say that this is going to be a good summer

Meeting the wonderful people that became some of the greatest friends I have.
What are you most looking forward to at camp this summer?
Helping people with the program that don't know much about the program and seeing people from last year!
What has changed about you because of Wellspring?
I've grown amazingly since before camp and, with the help of La Jolla and the Academy in NC, I've lost 56 pounds and since I'm going back to the Academy I'm going to lose more. I'm more loving towards myself and less shy.
