Wellspring Pennsylvania: Active and Fun

Wellspring Pennsylvania is simply the most fun, most effective co-ed fitness program in the Northeast. This is an ideal setting for developing skills at activities you already enjoy, and discovering your love for a variety of activities, sports, fitness classes, and outdoor adventures that you may never have tried. And great trips to New York City and local theme parks add an extra element of summer vacation fun for our campers.

Our goal is for you to have a summer in which you discover how great it feels to be active. So we introduce you to as many activities as possible, and train you in the skills you need to be successful at them. We understand that many of our campers have had negative experiences in gym class and team sports, which often takes the fun out of being active. That's not what you'll experience at Wellspring. Our counselors and coaches are specially trained to help campers (even those who may have been inactive for a while) learn new activities safely, and always in a supportive and non-competitive environment.

Fitness Classes and Lifetime Sports

Wellspring Pennsylvania campers enjoy a tremendous variety of indoor and outdoor activities. We use our large, beautiful gymnasia for a variety of team sports including basketball, volleyball, and indoor soccer.  Our indoor climbing wall makes for a fun and exciting way to build strength and confidence. And we're often outside, enjoying manicured athletic fields and courts for every sport you can imagine, as well as traditional camp games like capture the flag.

Outdoor Adventure

Wellspring Pennsylvania campers also take frequent adventure trips to the many nearby recreation areas that attract outdoor enthusiasts to the Poconos.  We're out every week enjoying the beauty of the surrounding area while having a great time. Hiking, biking, kayaking, rafting, canoeing-these are among the many outdoor activities available at Wellspring Pennsylvania.

Attainable Activity Goals

Every activity you try at Wellspring plays a major role in advancing your weight loss and developing your long-term healthy lifestyle. One of the many elements of the Wellspring Plan that sets Wellspring Pennsylvania apart from other weight loss camps in the area is our simple system for tracking activity levels and setting activity goals.

Every camper and staff member wears a pedometer, with the initial goal of getting in at least 10,000 steps per day. As campers rise up the Wellspring Level System, this step requirement increases in accordance with  fitness levels. The habit of setting and meeting daily activity goals is one of the many reasons Wellspring campers are so successful long-term, as this is a simple and sustainable habit that campers can easily continue when they return home. And our weight loss research indicates that a vast majority of them do!

The wide range of activities available at Wellspring Pennsylvania ensures you will have a fun summer just like you would at any summer camp - with the major difference that you'll be losing a significant amount of weight and gaining the skills you need to maintain or continue weight loss at home.
