Lisa Barros is the Director for Wellspring Adventure Camp. Lisa began working with Wellspring in 2008 after graduating from Bridgewater State College outside of Boston, MA, where she played college basketball and has always enjoyed fitness as an important part of her life. Lisa had worked at several different summer camps, but realized she wanted to work in a camp where children are working toward a healthy lifestyle. After her first summer as a counselor at Wellspring Adventure Camp, she was inspired by the campers' progress and came back the next summer as Head Counselor, then next as Counselor Supervisor, followed by Program Manager and this summer is proud to be back as Director.

Lamar Lewis, P-LCSW, is Clinical Director of Wellspring Adventure Camp. Lamar has worked with Wellspring, at our California and North Carolina Camps and Academy locations, since 2009. Lamar received his Master's Degree in Social Work from the University of Georgia, and has worked with children and adolescents in a variety of programs in both the US and England for nearly a decade. Lamar utilizes his passion for outdoor recreation and sports to encourage and support young people in their journey toward positive lifelong change.

Thomas Callahan, Activities Manager, has been working with Wellspring since 2008, during this time he has worked at Wellspring Adventure Camp as a Counselor; Activity Coordinator / Head Counselor; and Activities Supervisor. Thomas has been at Wellspring Academy of the Carolinas as a Program Coach and Head Coach and the weekday Program Supervisor. Thomas is a graduate of the University of Georgia with a BS in Education; Health and Physical Education. He is looking forward to his role as Activities Manager at Wellspring Adventure Camp this summer!

Daniel S. Kirschenbaum, Ph.D., ABPP, is President and Clinical Director of Wellspring. He was Director of the Eating Disorders Program at Northwestern University Medical School, where he is Professor of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences. Dr. Kirschenbaum is a Fellow and Diplomate in Clinical Health Psychology in the American Psychological Association and former president of its Division of Exercise and Sport Psychology. Dr. Kirschenbaum has provided invited addresses at many professional conferences worldwide, received numerous grants for research, and published 10 books and 150 journal articles on weight loss, sport psychology, and related topics. His books include: the first book published for professionals on the treatment of pediatric obesity - Treatment of Childhood and Adolescent Obesity (1987); Weight Loss Through Persistence (1994); The Sierras Weight Loss Solution for Teens and Kids (2007); and, The Wellspring Weight Loss Plan (2011). Dr. Kirschenbaum’s research on sport psychology won the top prize for research on the mental game of golf from the World Scientific Congress on Golf (St. Andrews, Scotland) and Golf Magazine (2001). In 2000, the American Council on Exercise and its Board of Directors unanimously endorsed his book, The 9 Truths About Weight Loss (2000), as "the best book ever written for the public on how to lose weight and keep it off."
