Weight Loss Camp for Women Ages 18-24

At Wellspring New York, typically about half of all participants are 18 and over. We've worked with hundreds of older campers and understand they attend Upper Camp because they are motivated to lose weight and improve their health. This motivation is irreplaceable, and Wellspring holds it in the highest regard.

In fact, many of Wellspring's most dramatic transformations have occurred among Upper Camp alumni.

With Wellspring New York's unique women-only weight loss environment, you'll share experiences and make lifelong friendships with other women who share your weight loss commitment. With the support of fantastic staff members who understand exactly what you've been through, you'll learn the skills you need to lose weight at camp and then return to a healthy weight at home or at college.

Women face unique challenges in a society that simultaneously discriminates against overweight women, promotes unhealthy female body images, and encourages women to turn to food for comfort and companionship.  Women often report feeling depressed and overwhelmed by the demands and expectations placed on them, and many turn to food as a coping mechanism.  At Wellspring New York, you'll learn healthy coping strategies for dealing with the stresses of life as an adult woman.

What to Expect at Upper Camp

The Upper Camp program for 18+ campers is unique among weight loss camps, allowing participants to enjoy activities and privileges more consistent with the adult situations they experience at home or college. Upper Campers have special fitness classes and activities, as well as more free time so they are able to spend more time focusing on the activities they plan to continue when they return home. Evening Activities are tailored to meet the interests of college-age young women.

At the same time, Upper Campers acknowledge that they are full participants in the Wellspring program. Indeed, Wellspring's Upper Campers typically set the tone for all of Wellspring New York, and their high level of motivation helps fuel those who may not be as motivated at the onset of camp - both in Middle Camp and Lower Camp. This means attending scheduled activities, including CBT sessions with their behavioral coach and culinary and nutrition classes.
