Eating Well at Wellspring New York
At Wellspring New York, the country's most effective weight loss camp for girls and young women, we promise you'll never be hungry. You'll enjoy three meals and two snacks per day, as well as a wide variety of delicious "uncontrolled" (unlimited) foods at every meal.
Wellspring's diet management program is unique, but after you experience it, you'll ask: "Why doesn't everyone do it this way?" Instead of restricting all foods and leaving campers hungry - an approach that is not sustainable after campers return home - Wellspring's uncontrolled foods are available at every meal: fat-free yogurt and cottage cheese, fresh fruits, vegetables, salads with delicious dressings, homemade soups, and more.
Participants are able to eat as much as they choose from the uncontrolled food bar, as long as they self-monitor (or journal) everything they eat. The uncontrolled food bar helps participants discover healthy ways to feel full and satisfied. Many participants tell us that the choices on the uncontrolled food bar become staple snacks once they return home, replacing the high-fat and unhealthy snacks they ate before attending camp.
We also focus on preparing entrees (or controlled foods) that have the same flavors and textures as the foods you're used to eating, but prepared with low-fat ingredients using healthier cooking methods. At each meal you'll enjoy a delicious entrée such as the Wellspring Oatmeal Bake, bison burgers with sweet potato fries, or grilled chicken kebabs over rice. And you'll always have the option of choosing a vegetarian entrée at meal time.

Culinary and Nutrition Training
We want Wellspring New York campers to return home feeling confident that they can continue losing weight on their own. So culinary and nutrition training is core to the Wellspring New York experience. It's essential that participants know how to choose, purchase, order and cook food that is "Wellspring-friendly."

If you've never set foot in a kitchen, no worries! Our professional chefs will teach you everything from how to keep a kitchen sanitary, to proper chopping, grilling, roasting, sautéing and baking techniques. And along the way you'll visit grocery stores to find low-fat substitutes for your favorite foods, and dine out in restaurants to learn how to order the healthiest options on the menu.
