Longer treatment for even better long-term results

We’re often asked about the difference between attending a Wellspring Camp for 4 weeks or 8 weeks, or the difference between attending Wellspring versus Wellspring Academies for a semester or two.

No matter the program or time period you choose, Wellspring participants have an excellent opportunity to lose weight and get in shape.

With an average 4.25 lb. weight loss per week, 8-week campers have the opportunity to lose significantly more weight at camp than 4-week campers. Our research also shows that 8-week campers lose more weight at home than their 4-week counterparts.

As illustrated below, on average, campers who attended Wellspring programs in 2005 for 4-week sessions had lost over 20 lbs. when evaluated at the follow-up 6-9 months after returning home from camp. Campers who attended for 8 weeks had a lost an average of almost 35 lbs at follow-up.

The longer the time spent in a comprehensive and immersive environment like Wellspring, the more engrained the skills become and the more likely the participant will return to a healthy weight and stay there, permanently. For those who have significant amounts of weight to lose or who need more intensive assistance in changing their lifestyle choices, we recommend Wellspring Academies.

At Wellspring Academy campuses in California or North Carolina, students receive the same renowned fitness and weight loss program as Wellspring Camps while going to school. Students remain at our Academies for a minimum of 4 months, and typically for a period of 6 – 8 months or two semesters. The Academies enroll students throughout the year, space permitting. The Academic Department works with the student’s home school to ensure students are taking the same courses, the same curriculum, they would have taken had they remained at their home school. The Academies are accredited, and credits transfer back to the home school.
