A Typical Day at Wellspring Family Camp
Wellspring Family Camp offers parents and children the opportunity to learn a simple, scientific, and sustainable approach to a lifelong healthy lifestyle. In one- to three-week vacations, families gain skills and motivation to continue losing weight long after camp ends.
On a typical day, parents break into parent-only sessions, have the chance to learn on their own, as well as have plenty of time to spend with their children engaged in exciting activities at the beach, on our beautiful campus, and on special trips to Southern California's incredible tourist destinations. Meanwhile, your child spend time with you as well as with our caring, dedicated, and experienced staff who engage your child in new activities, sports, and games to help ensure substantial weight loss and a fantastic vacation.
A Typical Day for Campers
- Family Morning Walk: Walk out along the coastline with your parents for an incredible view on your way to your goal of 10,000 steps per day.

- Breakfast: French toast, syrup, turkey bacon, unlimited fresh fruit and yogurt, followed by self-monitoring.

- Personal Training session: focus on your body's fitness needs and learn ways for your family to train together.

- Kayaking: Learn to paddle on shore, then hop in and go searching for seals.

- Lunch with mom and dad: Rice and grilled chicken burritos, steamed veggies, salad bar, and fresh fruit, followed by self-monitoring.

- Family Fun Time: Hit up the sand volleyball courts for a fun family game working on team building and having fun

- Afternoon Snack: Pretzels or popsicles.

- Culinary Class: Learn to make low-fat muffins. Yum!

- Behavioral Coaching: Meet with your group to talk about making healthy choices.

- Family Dinner: Burgers with a choice of toppings, pasta salad, salad bar, and fruit for dessert, followed by self-monitoring.

- Evening Activity: Family talent show. Sing, dance, and laugh with your new friends.

- Evening snack of air-popped popcorn, then quite time for families back in their suites.
A Typical Day for Parents
Every day provides numerous opportunities for parents to increase their own activity level, as well as to play and learn with their children. Parents also enjoy spending quality time with their children, away from the distractions of modern life.
Below is a sample day for a parent at Family Camp. Parents are encouraged to attend daily workshops as well as take time to enjoy the beach and campus amenities.
- Stretch Circle and Family Morning Walk: Get off to a great start, walking with your kids along the coastline.

- Family breakfast: Scrambled Egg Beaters and turkey bacon on an English muffin, fresh fruit, followed by self-monitoring.

- Parents' Behavioral Coaching: Today you're working on how to manage food at home.

- Family Activity: Optional yoga session for strengthening and relaxing.

- Lunch with the kids: Chicken and rice stir-fry, steamed veggies, salad bar, fresh fruit and yogurt, followed by self-monitoring.

- Optional Parents' Fitness Session: Your choice of Zumba or personal training in the fitness studio.

- Family Outing: Enjoy a gorgeous hike through the Torrey Pines Nature Reserve; stop for snack of fat-free brownies along the way.

- Family Dinner: Spaghetti and meat sauce, grilled veggies, salad bar, and frozen yogurt for dessert, followed by self-monitoring.

- Evening Activity: Family bonfire at the beach. Head down to the shore for an evening under the stars.

- Evening snack of caramel rice cakes or animal crackers, then quiet time for families.
