Invest in a healthier future
Wellspring Camps are an investment in your child’s future—their future health and their future well-being. Fitness and weight loss results at Wellspring offer the opportunity for children to change their bodies and change their lives. Why wait?
Before finding Wellspring, many families have tried diets, gym memberships, personal trainers, nutritionists, and therapy to help their son or daughter lose weight. Others have traditional weight loss or diet camps, programs like Weight Watchers or Jenny Craig and even considered risky options such as surgery.
The Wellspring difference is that studies have shown campers lose weight and keep it off. We offer a proven, scientific, and comprehensive program that can change your child’s life this summer.
Insurance Reimbursement Coverage
The clinical component of Wellspring includes a psychological assessment and four cognitive-behavioral counseling sessions per week. Specifically, campers participate in cognitive-behavioral therapy four times per week, twice individually and twice in a group therapeutic setting.
These services represent only a portion of the total cost of tuition, and may be reimbursed by health insurance.
These services can be categorized as either “mental health” or “health” (“medical”) treatments and varies depending upon provider, plan, and benefits.
Typically, families with PPO plans are more likely to receive reimbursement for a portion of the clinical component of the program (an estimated $2,000 for the first four weeks, and $1,500 for the second four weeks). They should not expect full reimbursement, nor should they base their decision to enroll their children upon such reimbursement.
Families with HMO’s should generally not expect to receive reimbursement, though we encourage families to advocate for their children’s health whenever possible.
At the end of Camp, Wellspring produces and submits a statement to your health insurance. The statement won’t come from Wellspring. It will come from the therapist.
Wellspring uses a private billing agency to bill insurance companies directly for reimbursement. If preauthorization is required, Wellspring will determine this and, where possible, ensure that treatment is preauthorized.
There are three main questions families should consider when calling their insurance providers:
- Do you have out-of-network medical and/or mental health benefits?
- Is there an additional deductible with either?
- Is pre-authorization and/or pre-certification required, and if so, what is required? (Wellspring will use best efforts to ascertain this and, where possible, ensure that treatment is preauthorized.)
Student Loans for Easy Monthly Payments
Because Wellspring Camps’ sister programs are Wellspring Academies, the attractive student loan programs that are available to families enrolling in Wellspring Academies are also available to families enrolling their children in Wellspring Camps.
These student loans are similar to the loans you might take out to pay for college. They can cover the entire camp tuition, including transportation to and from the program, and feature very low interest rates, a 20-year amortization period, and deferral of payments for up to 6 months. Student loans also have no prepayment penalties or cancellation fees.
Because the loan qualification and application process can be confusing, and because Wellspring families can choose from among several student lenders, we recommend that all Wellspring families work with our partner organization, Custom Educational Loans. Custom Educational Loans guides all Wellspring families through the loan qualification and application process and helps families choose the best loan for them. Custom Educational Loans typically can complete this process within 48 hours. Custom Educational Loans works with hundreds of Wellspring families each year.
If you are interested in a student loan to pay for the cost of Wellspring tuition, please contact Custom Educational Loans and tell them you’re interested in being qualified for a student loan to attend a Wellspring Camp for 4 weeks or 8 weeks.

Tax Deduction
On April 2, 2002, the IRS announced a new policy (IRS Ruling 202-19) stating that "Obesity is medically accepted to be a disease in its own right." For taxpayers, this means that treatment specifically for obesity can now be claimed as a medical deduction following a referral from a physician.
